Participation is by application and enrollment is limited. Applications will continued to be accepted as space allows.
Apply by May 19, 2025 for early consideration for admission and scholarships.
Step 1 – Apply for University Special Student Admission
Capstone Certificate students fall under the campus category of University Special Students as these students are not in degree status. Adult Career and Special Student Services (ACSSS) is the admitting and academic dean’s office for all University Special Students. Complete the online Special Student Application. Select the Capstone Certificate in Infant, Early Childhood and Family Mental Health (UNCS565). Applicants may use the following description for their personal statement about why they are applying for University Special Student admission:
“I am applying to the Capstone Certificate in Infant, Early Childhood and Family Mental Health to seek professional development for my work (or my interest in working) with infants, young children and their families.”
This application is received and processed by ACSSS with final decision held for approval by Capstone Certificate Program Directors.
Step 2 – Complete the Capstone Program Application Form and Submit with Supporting Materials
In addition to completing the online Special Student Application, applicants are required to submit an Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health Capstone Program Application Form (click here) and supporting materials.
Prerequisites: All applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent credential from an accredited college or university. The minimum GPA for admission to the program is 3.0.
A COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKET INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING
- Application for admission as a University of Wisconsin-Madison Special Student
- Completed Capstone Certificate Program Application Form
- A current résumé or curriculum vitae
- Two letters of reference:
- One letter should be from a supervisor who is acquainted with applicant’s applied experiences
- Both letters should speak to professional qualifications of the applicant
- For licensed individuals, copies of current licenses and/or credentials
- Transcripts from all college/university programs attended (undergraduate and graduate). Important Note: Transcripts should be sent directly to Bryn Abramson at babramson3@wisc.edu or via mail at the address listed below.
- Scholarship Form (optional): Use link found on the bottom of the Capstone Program Application Form to complete the Scholarship Form
Those who complete the application process and meet the Capstone Certificate Program requirements will be offered an interview with the a Program Director. This will ensure that applicants have the appropriate background and prerequisites, an opportunity to ask questions and a good understanding of the program and that this Capstone Certificate Program is a good fit for the applicant. This includes discussing applicant’s access to work with young children ages birth through 5 years and their families in order to complete assignments and participate in case-based discussions.
